01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
During the day the space functions as an art gallery, but once evening arrives, it shifts into an intimate sake bar. At Bar in Nezu, visitors can admire artworks on display while selecting their own preferred sake cup from a collection of handcrafted vessels. Seated along the compact counter, taking time to appreciate the weight and texture of the cup as you drink is part of the quiet pleasure of the room.
Carefully Chosen Sake from Across Japan
The menu features bottles selected by the owner from across the country. Listed examples span lively freshly pressed brews such as Akabu junmai namazake from Iwate and Houou Biden junmai ginjo from Tochigi, alongside aged bottlings like Koganesawa yamahai junmai genshu, aged for three years after pasteurisation, from Miyagi. Other listed examples include Akita's Yuki no Bosha and Mansaku no Hana, Saga's Shichida, and Hyogo's Miyakobijin and Banshu Ikkon, offering a varied journey across regional brewing styles.
Well Suited for a Second Stop or a Solo Night
Because food offerings centre on light sake accompaniments, the bar is best enjoyed as a second stop after a meal or for a visit where sake itself takes centre stage. The calm demeanour of the master and the quiet atmosphere of the space make solo patrons feel naturally welcome. Operating from Tuesday to Saturday, from 19:00 until late at night, the venue also accepts reservations to secure a seat in advance.
